Understanding your data
Imported run facts
A Garmin FIT import can create a run record with distance, pace, duration, elevation, heart rate, route information, and other device fields where the file includes them. Older devices and exports can omit fields, so individual run records may differ.
Comparable effort signals
beatledger does not treat one run as a verdict. It uses qualifying, comparable runs to make effort trends more useful. The available signals include heartbeat economy, aerobic stability (heart-rate drift), and pace at similar heart rates.
- Heartbeat economy: distance covered per heartbeat, shown as metres per ten beats.
- Aerobic stability: how pace and heart rate change through a sustained effort; shown as drift.
- Pace at comparable effort: pace grouped by similar heart-rate ranges across selected periods.
These measures depend on the available fields, run duration, and the number of comparable efforts. An unavailable or limited-confidence result means there is not enough relevant evidence yet, not that your fitness has worsened.
See Heartbeat economics for the calculations, qualifying criteria, and interpretation limits.
